Fuji Rock Festival 2022 Promo Video – A Visual Concept by Vordi

Music festivals represent more than concerts—they create immersive experiences where music, nature, and community meet. Inspired by this atmosphere, Vordi created a promotional video concept dedicated to the legendary Fuji Rock Festival.

Held from July 29 to July 31, 2022, at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata, Japan, Fuji Rock welcomed the return of international artists after pandemic restrictions. The festival featured major global acts such as Vampire Weekend, Jack White, and Halsey as headliners.

This video project explores the visual and emotional energy of the festival, transforming its iconic atmosphere into a cinematic promotional piece.

The Energy of Fuji Rock Festival

Since its creation in 1997, Fuji Rock has become Japan’s largest outdoor music festival, attracting thousands of fans to the mountains every summer. The festival takes place in a unique natural environment where stages are surrounded by forests, rivers, and mountains.

The 2022 edition marked an important moment, bringing back international artists to Japan’s festival scene and presenting a diverse lineup across rock, electronic, indie, soul, and alternative music.

Creative Direction of the Video

For this promo video, Vordi approached the project as a visual exploration of the festival experience.

Instead of documenting specific performances, the video focuses on:

  • the atmosphere of large outdoor stages

  • the anticipation of festival crowds

  • the immersive environment of music and nature

  • the emotional rhythm of live music events

The goal was to capture the collective energy that defines a music festival.

 


 

Visual Language and Editing Style

The visual storytelling of the project is built around three main elements:

1. Cinematic Atmosphere

Natural landscapes, stage lights, and large audiences create a powerful contrast between nature and technology, which is one of the signatures of Fuji Rock.

2. Rhythm and Motion

The editing follows the rhythm of music festival energy—starting with atmospheric moments and gradually building toward the intensity of live performance.

3. Immersive Experience

Through dynamic cuts and layered visuals, the video aims to make viewers feel as if they are inside the festival itself.
